What is the Spring Auction?

The Spring Auction is THE major fundraising event for the Cape Ann Waldorf School.
It is also the one time each year that the adults of our community have an opportunity to socialize with each other in a party atmosphere.  Finally, it is a way for us to open our doors to our North Shore neighbors and businesses, to meet them and let them know more about our school.

We have planned this year's Auction to be a GALA event at the exquisite Tupper Manor.  Picture walking into a marble foyer and strolling through the ballroom to your candlelit dinner in the glassed-in conservatory with its view of the Atlantic Ocean. Your friends greet you as you peruse the Auction items and plan your strategy for winning the ones that catch your eye. What follows is an evening of dining, friendly and sometimes ardent bidding, and enjoying yourself with friends in an elegant setting, all for the growth and good of the school.

This promises to be a remarkable evening, so please join us! Mark your calendars, line up a sitter, and bring as many friends and family as you can -- people who will enjoy a lovely and lively night out, people who would be happy to support you and your choice of a Waldorf education for your children.

How can I help?

The Auction Committee is asking all Waldorf families to contribute at least 1 donation for the Auction. Never given at an Auction before?  Need some good ideas? Visit our Auction Blog at http://capeannwaldorf.wordpress.com/. We encourage people to list their donations there, see what others are giving, and find inspiration to give something really special this year.

In addition to our own contributions, we are asking parents to reach out to other North Shore community members and businesses to support the Auction through either a donation or an ad in our Auction Booklet. We want to support local businesses and to give them exposure to our school.  If you have friends or relatives who are local merchants, artists, or businesspeople, please ask them for a donation or an ad! Waldorf parent Jen Benoit is coordinating the donations and advertising this year. Please contact her at jen.benoit@comcast.net or 978 927-1177 for instructions and paperwork for both donations and ads. Forms for donations and ads will also be attached to your Newsletter and available online. Finally, if you have experience in sales and would like to assist Jen in collecting donations, she would welcome your help!

Most importantly, we are asking all members of our community to attend the event. Invite your friends, family, neighbors and colleagues to join us!

Make it a Night Out to Remember

Coming Soon! BABYSITTER LIST

We will be collecting the names and phone numbers of older CAWS students and alumni that will be available to sit for your little ones. The eighth grade class has already listed their names and phone numbers in last week’s newsletter.

STAY OVERNIGHT - Lodging Available at Tupper Manor

The brand new Inn at Tupper Manor is beautiful, comfortable, and only 500 feet from the manor. If a night out that lasts until morning is something you haven’t done in a while, why not use our Spring Auction to kick off your Spring Fever! We will be negotiating a special room rate with the Inn; rates TBD in the next couple of weeks.

GET DECKED OUT

While this is not a formal event, we invite you to let your creative juices flow and dress in your festive best.  Jeans are O.K., but flowing chenille with tuxedo pants is so much more fun! After all, our surroundings will be elegant, and it’s not often we get to show off our glamorous side…. And remember to support your local businesses when shopping for your festive wear!
