We have mixed-age kindergartens, for children ages 4.6 to 6.6 by September 1.  Our Kindergarten program offers a developmentally appropriate curriculum which includes elements that prepare children for the academics that await them in the elementary grades. Supervised, free-play brings many opportunities for working on social skills such as, sharing, self-control, patience and how our actions affect others.  It also gives children the opportunity to play out their life experiences.  Story telling helps to develop the child's imagination, enhances their listening skills and increases vocabulary.  The stories told, often fairy tales, contain beautiful language and many words that most children are not accustomed to hearing in every day conversation.

Opportunities for gross motor and fine motor movement as well as music and craft work are interwoven throughout each day. Watercolor painting, drawing, baking and sewing are weekly activities that the children enjoy.  The children experience and participate in "real work" throughout the day such as cleaning, preparing our daily meal, setting the table, polishing wooden toys, grinding grains, threshing wheat, carrying pails of water and gardening, to name a few.  Outdoor play in every kind of weather enables the children to experience all of the elements that Mother Nature has to offer.   Our days breathe with quiet times and "not so quiet times" in order to create a healthy, balanced experience for the children.

We strive to provide a rich sensory experience in which the Kindergarten age child can thrive in a creative play environment and where imaginations soar.  This nourishes and supports their growing awareness in a safe and secure space and prepares them to move on to the academic content of the grades.

The 5-day kindergarten is available to all kindergarten children and it will be determined by the teacher and parents together if a younger child is ready for a full week or if a 4-day option is more suitable.  All children who will be going to first grade the following academic year will be enrolled in the 5-day kindergarten.
