Early Childhood

“If a tiny child has been able in his play to give up his whole loving being to the world around him, he will be able, in the serious tasks of later life, to devote himself with confidence and power to the service of the world.”
--Rudolf Steiner, Founder of Waldorf Education

ClassroomThe Early Childhood Programs at Cape Ann Waldorf School show the greatest respect for this magical stage of a child’s life. We provide a warm, calm, secure and aesthetic environment in which the imagination and creativity of the child flourish. These programs emphasize imaginative play, language development, artistic development, social skills, singing, storytelling, and movement. Consistent with the overall Waldorf philosophy, this approach allows children to grow up in a developmentally appropriate manner.

May FairThe Early Childhood programs serve families with children from infancy through kindergarten age. Each level of the program is designed to meet the children at their various developmental stages. These programs provide an interim step between the young child’s experience at home and formal schooling.
