Waldorf Community Association
The Waldorf Community Association (WCA) at Cape Ann Waldorf School is an organization of parents, teachers, and others in the community wanting to support the school.
The Waldorf Community Association is led by volunteer parents and hosts four meetings during the school year in which community members can gather to share their joys, concerns, and ideas about the school and its events. These meetings are a great way to get to know other community members, and to work on projects or simply chat and catch up.
The Waldorf Community Association also seeks to enrich the CAWS experience by reaching out to other Waldorf schools and the entire North Shore community by offering such events as our esteemed Adult Lecture Series, public service talks (such as "Internet Safety"), used book sales, recycling events, summer picnic dinner meet-ups, and our annual Learning Conference.
Meetings during the 2011/2012 school year will be on the following dates:
8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. on:
- Wednesday, October 12
- Thursday, December 8
- Wednesday, February 29, 2012
- Thursday, April 3, 2012
The Learning Conference (topic and date TBA) will be held in late January or early February.
Wed. Feb 29, 2012: 8:30 – 10:00 am
Honeybees and Humanity
Dave Mansur will lead a discussion about the history of beekeeping and the role of human beings in the health of the honeybee (and vice versa). He will draw on his own experience, on Rudolf Steiner's Nine Lectures on Bees and the work of Gunther Hauk.
Dave Mansur has been a member of the CAWS community since 1995 as a class parent, board member, faculty spouse and general carrier of things that need moving. He has also been a backyard beekeeper for most of that time. Between raising bees and boys, Dave has been presented with moments where prayer is the only practical course of action. He is currently the secretary and treasurer of the Anthroposophical Society of Cape Ann and lives in Ipswich with his wife, Mary, their sons, two cats and about 300,000 honeybees.
Tues. Apr 3, 2012: 8:30 – 10:00 am
A Look at Rudolf Steiner's lecture, "The Lord's Prayer"
Dave Mansur will facilitate a conversation on the practical application of prayer in parenting and in life. He will draw on his personal experience, the experiences of those attending, and Rudolf Steiner's lecture The Lord's Prayer.
